The Strengths-Based Resume Exercise
The Strengths-Based Resume Exercise
In contrast to a chronological resume, a strengths-based resume emphasizes and focuses on how the strengths of the applicant are relevant for a certain job. It lists a person’s job qualifications in strength categories, rather than the standard approach of using reverse chronological work experience categories.
The goal of this exercise is to help individuals match jobs based on their personal strengths rather than their previously acquired skills.
In some cases, writing a strengths-based resume can help you present yourself to potential employers in a more powerful way than a chronological resume would. Here are different reasons you might choose a strengths-based resume:
You have insufficient work experience.
You have large or frequent employment changes/gaps.
You want to change careers.
Your educational/training background is atypical for this position.
